The student government of ACCHS is an organization whose primary objective lies in service to and leadership of students. Its functions are wide-ranging and essential to student activities at Allentown Central Catholic.
Internat is ACCHS's link to the beauty and wonder of foreign countries. Their annual trip to New York City is the highlight of this club. International Language Week is produced by Internat and give's Central Catholic students a taste of foreign cultures.
The program runs from 2:00 - 3:00pm, twice a month. Our ACCHS students feel like they get so much out of their friendships with the Sacred Heart children.
Chess Club is open to all students who possess an interest in this intellectual game. Informal practice take place after school to have fun and learn in a non-competitive environment. All are welcome to sit back, relax and enjoy the game of chess. The Chess Team is a competitive group involved in inter-scholastic competitions throughout the Valley.
The ACCHS campus is a block from Oakland’s City Center and mere steps away from the 19th Street BART station. Public transit options are plenty with easy access to BART heavy rail, bus lines, and bicycle routes. There are spots to lock up your bike, including secure indoor bike lockers.
The US Department of Education provides the funding to ACCHS, and the Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) makes subsidized* and unsubsidized loans directly to you. Your loan checks typically will be disbursed along with your other financial aid.
About four weeks after the student mails the FAFSA (about one week if filed online), the student will receive a document called the Student Aid Report, and ACCHS will receive the electronic copy of the FAFSA. ACCHS will notify the student to submit verification documents if necessary.
ACCHS’s allocation was determined by the U.S. Department of Education based on the number FA students (in need) enrolled on campus (70% of the weight) and the overall enrollment (30% of the weight). Given the. weighting, Congress clearly intends the funds to go to students with the most financial need.
Students enrolled in 10 or more units at ACCHS are considered full-time. Students enrolled in between 6 to 9 units are considered part-time. For more information on eligibility requirements, refer to the current ED info.
A nationally established formula computes the family’s contribution (EFC) using information regarding the family’s income, assets, and number of family members in college. For a student who is considered to be dependent, the student and the parents complete the application.
The Academy provides access to several low-interest financial aid programs, including Veterans financial aid, and Work-Study, a program that allows FA students to work and go to school at the same time. Federal Direct Loans (Stafford Loans) can be utilized by degree-seeking students who qualify.
