In September 2015 Microsoft announced the acquisition of the Adoxio Inc, the makers of ADX Studio Portals for Dynamics CRM and 365. Break fix support continued to be supported by Microsoft. However, as of August 1st 2018, Microsoft support for what is known as legacy ADX Studio Portal will be coming to an end.
All usersin an ADX Studio portal are identified within Dynamics CRM as Contact records - this is a critical point when discussing not only authentication but also authorization.
There are three main ways in which user credentials are authenticated in an ADX Studio portal: ##Forms Based Authentication As in ASP.NET, forms based authentication provides a secure mechanism for external users to provide their username and password which is submitted to the server for authentication.
In this mode, users do not provide their credentials to the ADX Studio portal but are redirected to the login page for ACS. The users credentials are verified inside ACS and appropriate tokens issued for the ADX Studio portal to validate that the user has been authenticated.
In CRM Portal, if we upload an attachment, where does it go ? Can I look for it in CRM ?
I can't confirm how this works in the latest CRM portal but from my experience with ADX Studio, I know that Files & Attachments can be stored directly in CRM or in Azure Blob storage for easy access. The content editor allows you to insert images and videos directly from resources present on your site.
If you are using the Microsoft hosted portal, I'm assuming that the attachment will go into a notes section somewhere. Maybe someone can confirm this.
If you are asking about an attachment through a form in ADX, I suppose it creates a note in CRM which is attached with the record (which is created using that form).
Despite the fact that Microsoft will now only be selling Adxstudio Portals v7.0 on an exception basis (see here ), there are still hundreds of portal implementations that still being deployed and supported.
