What is the Abu Dhabi Department of Education?

Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) is a governmental entity that regulates the education sector in the capital. His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan established it in 2005. It aims to develop the education sector and to improve the quality of education in Abu Dhabi. For this purpose, it inspects the performance of schools every 2 years and rates it based on a 6-point scale. The scale varies from outstanding to very weak.

What is the curriculum of Al Muna Academy?

In the primary stage, Al Muna Academy follows the formal learning practices of the British National Curriculum. The UK curriculum for the primary stage is divided into two key stages: Key Stage 1 (KS1) and Key Stage 2 (KS2). The syllabus is developed in a way to give a complete experience to students. Besides formal learning, the school also focuses on developing personal, emotional, social, health and moral skills. Referred to as the hidden curriculum, these are the main values that shape the children to become positive contributors. Additionally, it also cultivates strong personal skills such as self-control, behaviour, conduct and leadership.

What is field trip in Aldar?

It allows the students to explore the world and learn something new from their surroundings. It also serves as an opportunity for teachers to expand students’ learning beyond the walls of classrooms. Several school trips are arranged including the visit to Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club. Here, they experienced riding a horse and spent their time exploring new things. Year 5 students also visited Captain Tony’s – a popular boat tour spot in Abu Dhabi. Besides recreational field trips, students are also taken to other Aldar academies for education and other purposes. For instance, primary students visited the Al Bateen Academy to attend Transition Science Workshop.
