Since 2001 Athenian Academy has been changing the way the world thinks about Charter Schools. At that time, the concept of charter schools was relatively new in the state of Florida.

Foreign Dual-Language Focus

Athenian academy, established in the year 2000, was the first Greek charter school in the United States. Today Athenian Academy’s curriculum has evolved into dual foreign languages including both Greek and Spanish. Athenian is the only school in Pinellas County that teaches two foreign languages daily to all K-8 students.

How do students have a voice at Athenian?

Students have a voice at Athenian and participate actively through Town Meeting, student forums, and classes like Democracy In Action. Through this hands-on involvement, they learn how to make positive changes in their communities.

Building Global Citizens One Child at a Time

Student life at Athenian Academy Charter School offers a safe, fun and challenging experience for all students. Athenian Academy takes pride in character education. Our students are held to a high standard of behavior and are rewarded monthly for their efforts. The 3R Club is our school-wide character education program.

Safe

The Athenian Academy has a small campus which allows a greater degree of safety. We have a weapon free, drug free and bully free campus. Recordable security cameras are installed in the hallways, near entry doors and inside several classrooms.

Challenging

Athenian Academy offers three levels of instruction: Struggling students are placed in small groups or 1:1 instruction groups two or three times a week outside the classroom setting. The purpose of this small group instruction is to allow students the opportunity to catch up and meet grade level expectations.
