How can I Check my Child's progress at Avondale College?

By EFTPOS, cash or credit card to our school cashier (in Reception), Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 4:00pm. Avondale College reports on the progress of students each term. (These reports are also available in Family Connection under the Documents tab.)

What is the Avondale Parent Handbook?

What is the Avondale School District?

Avondale School District understands the importance of having a trustworthy, safe, and friendly environment for your child before and after school hours. Our Busy Bee Before/After School Care program provides just that for your school-age child. Busy Bee gives children the chance to participate in activities that encourage social, physical, and intellectual growth, while being cared for before and after school. We also provide a Summer Camp with themed activities each week. Our Busy Bee program is licensed by the State of Michigan and follows our District Calendar in terms of open/close dates and hours of operation. What is Avondale Youth Assistance?

Avondale Youth Assistance (AYA) is a non-profit community service organization that is committed to strengthening our community's youth and families, and helping to reduce the incidence of juvenile delinquency, child neglect, and abuse. The AYA mission is achieved through partnerships between the Avondale School District, local municipalities, and the Oakland County Circuit Court-Family Division, who provides caseworkers to offer counseling services to children and families within Avondale.#N#AYA provides a wide range of programs and services to community youth and their families, including mentoring programs, recognition programs to honor positive personal achievements, after-school and summer programs, scholarships, and more. For Avondale youth and their families, AYA also provides services like drug test kits, mentor program brochures and videos, financial assistance information, suicide prevention tips, community resources and more.#N#To learn more, see the youth assistance resources available at the bottom of this page.

Avondale Board of Education Announces New Officers for 2022

At the January 10, 2022 Board of Education Organizational meeting, the Board seated a new President and Vice President for 2022. Congratulations to Mr. Chip Tischer who will serve as President and Ms. Lucille Washington who will serve as Vice President. Ms. Kelly Brault will continue as Secretary and Mr. David Down will continue as Treasurer.

Avondale Career Development Team Provides Opportunities for Community Members to Share Job Experiences with Students

There are several ways to share your work experiences with students in Kindergarten through 12th grade including being a Guest Reader, a Career Day Speaker, providing a demonstration or hands-on experience related to your field of employment, sharing your experiences with a single classroom, and representing your company at a Career Fair.

What is Avondale College?

What is family connection?

'Family Connection' is the name of our parent portal which provides families with a range of information. Each family is given an individual 7 digit code that allows them to login to the portal.

2. Proficiency

Research shows that one of the greatest predictors of high school graduation and college acceptance is reading proficiency in 3rd grade.

3. School Readiness

Studies show that one of the most important predictors of 3rd grade test performance is school readiness at kindergarten entry.

4. Reading

By 5th grade, children in the 10th percentile read 50,000 words a year while children in the 90th percentile read around 4.5 million words a year.

5. Success

A child’s educational success is one of the most important indicators of economic success later in their life.

6. Test Scores

63% of Utah 4th Graders in 2013 scored below proficient on National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) reading test.

7. Development

85% of a child’s brain development occurs before they turn five years old.
