Designated America’s most diverse city, Houston welcomes thousands of new residents from across the globe each year. Awty is a key participant in attracting global citizens from around the corner and around the world.
The Awty International School admits students of any race, color, national, and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school.
Awty students outperform world averages with a 100% pass rate on the International Baccalaureate and a 100% pass rate on the French Baccalauréat. Our students are prepared for success at colleges and universities around the world.
Another reason I love Awty is because they have clean and organized classrooms. I also love the events that Awty does. I think Awty has a cool playground. Finally, I love Awty because I have learned three languages: French, English, and Spanish.".
Founded in 1956, Awty is Houston’s premier international school. We offer students a rigorous path to graduating with either the International Baccalaureate or the French Baccalauréat, and are the only school in Houston fully accredited by the French Ministry of Education. Beginning with three year olds, our program combines high academic standards with a kind and friendly atmosphere celebrating cultural, national, and linguistic diversity.
Greetings and welcome to the Awty Plus program website page! Our uniquely designed programs are set up to benefit both parents and students, hoping to accommodate everyone at The Awty International School. Our goal in Awty Plus is to meet physical, creative and academic needs.
Operating Hours for Awty Plus are from dismissal of school until 6:00 P.M. We are open for fall, winter, and spring break from 7:30 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. Please note that the program is closed during Thanksgiving and the Christmas Holidays, along with Primary School Parent/Teacher Conference Days.
In this program, students attend study hall with other age appropriate children and concentrate on homework. This is not similar to one-on-one tutoring. Students needing more attention should seek private tutoring. This is for students who do not wish to participate in a daily activity. A five day, three day and individual day program is available.
All refunds must be requested in writing to the Director of Awty Plus. No refunds will be given after the first day of class. This pertains to all pre-paid programs. This policy is strictly enforced.
On occasion, parents are not able to pick up their child immediately after school due to work, an emergency, or being out of town. A child who does not typically attend the after school program is considered a drop-in. Drop-ins do not participate in after school activities, but receive supervision, homework assistance, and a snack. Please call beforehand so that the Awty Plus Staff knows to expect your child. There is a $25.00 fee for each child per day. This fee applies to any duration of time spent in Awty Plus.
This school year, we have continued to follow the guidance of the CDC, state and local health officials, and our medical advisors to prioritize the health and safety of our community and mitigate the spread of COVID-19. This guidance continues to evolve as new information becomes available and community conditions change.
Effective Jan 3, regardless of vaccination status, we will return to mandatory masking indoors and outdoors when an appropriate distance cannot be kept from others. Individuals who are in a room by themselves with the door closed may remove their mask.
At this time, we do not plan to mandate vaccination for students. We will offer the full, core Awty experience for all students regardless of vaccination status. We do encourage families to confer with their healthcare providers and choose to vaccinate students if it is consistent with the provider's advice.
We have not mandated the vaccine at this time. However, current OSHA regulations require our employees to report their vaccination status and, if vaccinated, provide proof of vaccination.
Daily wellness screening via SchoolPass is no longer required. Effective Nov. 16, we ask that you use the app only to notify Awty clinic staff of an illness.
