The Physical Fitness Test (PFT) is part of the state testing program. California has chosen the FITNESSGRAM® as the annual PFT for students in public schools. All students in grades five, seven, and nine are tested. The PFT is administered between February and May.

Bellflower Unified School District is excited to announce that Kim Ashton has been selected as the Teacher of the Year for the 2021-2022 school year. Kim has worked for BUSD for 26 years! She always has a positive attitude and is willing to learn and implement something new if it will help her students. She is trained in Thinking Maps, Word Study, Growth Mindset, Restorative Practices, and more. She is a dedicated professional who has an unbridled passion for education and learning. Kim actively collaborates with school and district teams to support teachers. She even develops lessons and shares them with her colleagues on important topics such as restorative practices and growth mindset. She is a dedicated educator and valued BUSD team member who is committed to building futures for BUSD students.
The BUSD Board of Education has established April 20-24, 2021, as Public School Volunteer Week. School volunteers form an essential link with the community and help to show our youth that the greater community cares for their welfare and supports them in their efforts to grow and become hard-working, thoughtful, and responsible adults. BUSD staff are grateful for the dedication of so many parents, caregivers, neighbors and friends who give of their time and talent to ensure the best education for our students.
