Breton Education Centre is a community school. It has tremendous support and involvement from the community and the school, in turn, continually responds to various community needs. Breton Education Centre is home to continuing education classes and a teen health centre.
The school opened in 1970 and replaced three former high schools, Mt. Carmel, St. Agnes and Central. 2019-20 will mark the beginning of the 50th year for Breton Education Centre and the student enrollment is approximately 620. Breton Education Centre is a community school.
An opportunity for parents and adult family members to come together, and learn from each other as they explore life and the needed supports for their child. Sessions will provide strategies to support active engagement in life and community through self-advocacy and self-determination. Join Lisa and Brian from Counselling Services in these virtual conversations. (Sessions will take place once a month from January until June)
At Breton Ability Centre, we recognize and celebrate that every one of our residents is unique. Our approach to support includes individualized development plans, which includes living options, learning and educational programs and opportunities for employment and recreation.
Sadly, the stigma that comes with a having a disability continues to be one of the biggest challenges our residents face. We’re breaking down barriers to inclusion by providing opportunities for our residents to create meaningful connections in our community and gain the skills to needed to prepare for more independent living.
