However, please keep in mind that Cal Poly cannot provide any person, including a parent, specific student account information until the student in question has given us written permission to do so.
My Cal Poly Portal connects students, staff and faculty to campus apps and information. The Portal requires a Cal Poly username and password for access. Once logged in, users can find quick links to campus apps like PolyLearn and Canvas, manage their personal information, access email & calendar, and receive important campus notifications.
Email the Student Accounts Office if you have questions once the financial aid has been disbursed. Like all other financial aid, Parent PLUS loan funds will automatically be applied to the student's Cal Poly account and will be used to pay any outstanding charges.
If the credit check is not approved, the parent will be asked to indicate one of the following: They are going to pursue the loan by obtaining an endorser (co-signer). The parent will work directly with the origination center and Cal Poly will be notified once the loan is approved.
Parent PLUS Loans. Parent PLUS loans allow parents to borrow money to help pay the educational expenses of their dependent undergraduate. The maximum that a family can borrow is the total cost of attendance minus all other financial aid awarded to the student.
Be enrolled at least half-time (6+ credits for undergraduate or credential students and 4+ credits for graduate students).
Repayment begins 60 days after the loan's final disbursement. Parent PLUS Loan borrowers may choose to have repayment deferred while their student is enrolled at least half-time and for an additional six months after that student is no longer enrolled at least half-time.
For loans received between July 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021, the interest rate is 5.3%.
Because Federal law (FERPA) protects the privacy of every student enrolled at Cal Poly, we are unable to provide student information to anyone other than the student.
For general questions or non-emergency student support, contact us Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at 805-756-1226 or contact your student's Coordinator of Student Development.
