Now, more than ever before, Digital Citizenship for students is paramount in education. All Orange Unified schools are working towards becoming certified as a Common Sense School.
As part of our commitment to ensure that families are knowledgeable and and able to navigate the ups and downs of raising kids in today's digital age, we would like to ensure the following resources are available:
Get equipped to guide your child in today's digital world by attending a district presentation on Digital Citizenship. Presentations cover the Common Sense Curriculum that students are guided through as well as a number of other topics including: Learning with Technology, Cyberbullying, Digital Drama, Media, Gaming, and Mental Health.
If an absence is not cleared within that timeframe, it will be considered unexcused and the student will receive consequences. If a student becomes ill during the school day, he/she should go to the Health Office. The Health Clerk will call home and will notify attendance.
Rather, it is intended to make all students accountable for good attendance and to achieve a quality educational environment.
A major consideration for students who request a zero period class is the recognition that student attendance must not be compromised due to the early start time. In most cases, there is a direct correlation between regular attendance and success in class.
Regular Attendance. California State Law mandates daily attendance at school until the age of eighteen. No pupil is permitted to leave school at break or any other time before the regular hour of closing without the approval of the school principal or designee.
If a student must leave campus early, a note should be dropped off to the Attendance Office at the beginning of the school day or a parent/guardian must come in person to the Attendance Office . No phone calls are permitted for early release.
A principal or designee may require a satisfactory explanation from a student's parent or guardian either in person or by a written note whenever the student is absent for all or part of the school day.
