How many students are in Central School?

Known as a particularly warm and welcoming community, Central is a K-5 school with approximately 500 students. The current Central School building at 1100 Palmer Avenue opened its doors in 1965. Prior to that time, Central was located on the Post Road in what is now our Village Hall. Our facility was built to accommodate the growing community back in the early 60s when it became clear that a larger school was needed. We boast abundant green space which includes two baseball fields, three playgrounds, an outdoor classroom and our very own Native Woodlands.

Why is Central School called Central School?

Central School comes by its name because it is centrally located in the Mamaroneck School District. We are fortunate to be situated in walking distance to the Long Island Sound as well as both villages of Larchmont and Mamaroneck.
