For the 2021-2022 school year, students at eligible schools can participate in activities in-person at school. Principals apply for and oversee the CHAMPS program at their schools, select the activities they will offer, and the schedule.
Contact your principal or physical education teacher to see if there is a CHAMPS program in your school. A parent or legal guardian must complete a consent form for their child to participate. CHAMPS teacher-coaches distribute the consent form and a fact sheet on concussions for parents.
Jr. NBA Students in grades K-8 have the opportunity to participate in CHAMPS. You do not have to have any specific athletic skill level or experience. The CHAMPS policy playbook is grounded in research and draws on best practice examples, such as those generated by the Quality Parenting Initiative.
