Coppin Academy High School is a Maryland public charter school operated by Coppin State University. With a commitment to serve students from underserved local communities, Coppin Academy has roughly 300 students in grades 9th through 12th.
A charter school is an educational institution that operates independently of a school district. Operating organizations often have the freedom to design specialized curricula that meet specific student needs. In Maryland, public charter schools are public schools free and open to all Maryland children.
Coppin’s Oversight Board is the legally responsible guardian of the Academy for all financial and operational matters, as well as academic performance. The Board meets at least once every quarter.
The college experience can feel challenging to navigate alone. At Coppin, you're not alone—you're part of an Eagle community here to support you every step of the way.
Before you start classes, you should become familiar with our academic policies. These policies around issues including declaring a major, understanding the Coppin grading system, and filing an academic grievance can be valuable tools to help you define success throughout your Coppin journey.
