A. We follow the American Camping Association and the New York State Department of Health regulations for our summer camp. Our ratio for Day Camp is generally 8-12 campers per counselor and each group usually has a Junior Counselor with them as well. It averages out to be about 10:2.
Because we are a traditional summer camp, those activities will include things like nature, hiking, high ropes, free swim, boating, fishing, sports, arts and crafts, and of course lunch and snack time. There are also special guests and theme days each week. A camp day runs from 8:45am – 4:30pm. If you need extended day care, Before Care begins at 7:00am, After Care ends at 6:00pm.
If you have a camper who is at higher risk to develop an illness, please contact your healthcare provider to discuss if Camp is right for your child this summer.
Children will get to swim at least 3-4 times per week. They will have designated areas in the water and on the beach. All specialist equipment such as life jackets, bows and arrows, climbing gear, gardening tools, craft supplies, etc. will be cleaned and disinfected throughout the day.
Our chef prepares nutritious, kid-friendly food like pizza, baked chicken nuggets, chicken fajitas, tacos, macaroni and cheese, etc. along with 2 side choices. Every day there is salad, cereal, and/or sandwiches offered for those who do not want the hot entrée. Each family receives a menu before the summer begins and you are welcome to send lunch with your child if you feel they will not eat what is being served. If you inform us ahead of time and in writing of your child’s dietary needs, we are more than happy to accommodate special dietary needs such as gluten free, any allergies, vegetarian, etc.
Campers and staff will have wellness checks upon arrival that will include verbal questions and answers and a temperature check. No campers or staff will be allowed out of their cars without first being screened to ensure they are healthy. We will be asking about exposure to any confirmed cases of COVID19 in the last 14 days, if the camper or anyone in the house is awaiting the results of a COVID test, and if the child has had any symptoms in the last 48 hours.
Campers and staff will wash or sanitize hands before and after each activity, before and after eating, after using the bathroom, and when they are soiled.
