At CVA, our faculty and staff are trained to meet the needs of virtual learners by providing a first-class education experience with support from technology and parents. Our standards-based curriculum is delivered through live instruction for grades 3-8 and asynchronously for grades 9-12.

What happens when I Register my student with CVA?

When you contact CVA, an Enrollment Advisor will answer your questions and, should you decide to register your student, guide you through the entire process. While registration is underway, an Academic Advisor will work with you to develop your student’s Written Student Learning Plan (WSLP).

Stride Career Prep gives 8th–12th graders the chance to explore career options and gain an edge for the future. Students take core academic courses as well as career-focused electives in the high-demand field of their choice.

What is a CVA teacher?

Columbia Virtual Academy (CVA) teachers are here to help you and your student succeed. Every CVA teacher is Washington State Certified. You are assigned a CVA teacher once you have completed the registration process and you will be able to rely on your teacher for guidance and support.

The WSLP is your map to success for your student’s education, developed for your student by your CVA Academic Advisor. The WSLP includes the learning goals, objectives, learning activities and timelines for each online or book and paper course you choose.

For full-time students, the state assessment is required for grades 3 - 8 and 10 - 12, along with any other annual assessments required by the CVA school district for all grades.

CVA provides instructional resources each school year to support your student’s personalized learning plan at no cost to your family because CVA is a public school.

Apply for an account

Please fill in and print the Parent Portal Login Request Form (PDF). Submit it to the office at your child’s school. You will be notified via email when your account has been set up and receive instructions on how to access the portal.

Once you have been notified your account has been created, log into SchoolTool Parent Portal.

SchoolTool Mobile App

Parent Portal has a mobile app available for iOS and Android devices. With this app, parents or legal guardians who have Parent Portal accounts and students in grades 5-12 can view information about current schedules, attendance, assignments, grades and discipline. If you cannot find a solution, contact the Parent Portal Manager by email at parentportal@cvalleycsd.org. Please include your name and your child’s name to confirm your account and settings.

Update your email

To avoid confusion and to ensure that you receive news of any changes to our SchoolTool system, please be certain that your Parent Portal email account matches the email you have on file at the school. Email the Parent Portal of any changes to your email account as soon as possible.
