How does your 8 year old feel about drama Kids?

My 8 year old loves being able to attend a class with her sister at the same time and loves re-enacting what they do in class at home. I appreciate that Drama Kids isn’t primarily production based and gives each of the kids chances to participate.

Just a side note to you and your staff and program…..Novalie had to present a colonial trade to her class for her colonial days celebration. Her teacher said she blew the competition out of the park! Novalie was the only student to present without reading her essay or using note cards! She just talked! She used the most visual aids/props too.

Starting Feb 28 kids can attend Drama Kids classes 5 days a week at The Sun Spot! We have Theater-Palooza M-F where kids learn theater lingo, theater games and have show tunes sing-a-longs, Developmental Drama every Monday, a special Take 2 Performance class Tuesday-Thursday, and then finish the week out with some super fun Improvisation every Friday! Why do kids need drama?

Not only does Drama Kids help build wonderful acting skills, but it also teaches children how to work well cooperatively toward an end goal. They also get so many wonderful opportunities in our Drama Kids classes to express themselves creatively and speak up clearly and confidently.

When did Drama Kids of Sarasota start?

We began as Drama Kids of Sarasota in August of 2002. Then in 2004, we became Drama Kids of Manasota, encompassing classes as far south as Venice and as far North as Parrish!

Covid-19 Safety Protocol Update

I n lieu of the Governor's announcement on Monday, June 7, that the state now allows school students, employees and visitors the option to not wear masks outside, we are able to extend our Drama Kids the option to perform without their masks! They will still remain spaced out 6 feet apart while on stage, that has not changed.

Seating

Don’t forget to RSVP with the number of guests attending. *Please note, we may have to limit the number of guests you bring if a particular performance exceeds capacity. RSVP HERE

Video & Photos

We will be taking video of all performances and a free digital copy will be sent out to all families upon completion! If you would like to purchase a DVD copy of your child’s performance, the cost is $15 and the DVD will be mailed to you within 6-8 weeks of your child’s performance. If you take pictures after the show, please make sure to not linger too long so that the next audience can get into the area and set up.

Costumes

Please arrive to your scheduled dress rehearsal IN COSTUME. There is no private space to change or get ready at the park. Apply makeup at home before the show if you want to do makeup.
