To mark Veterans Day, students and staff at East Lake Elementary School are honoring the brave men and women who have served in the armed forces with a writing campaign and a wall of honor. East Lake brought Idioms to School. Recently fourth grade students in Mrs. LiCausi's class learned about idioms. As a culminating activity the class "brought an idiom to school"! The students dressed up as different idioms and had their classmates guess the idiom they were and its meaning!
East Lake Students Create a Living Museum. As a culmination to a recent biography unit, students in Mrs. Sicignano's class, turned their classroom into a living museum. The students dressed in character to represent famous people who came to life to tell about their lives for all who visited the museum.
Art Day Kicks Off ABC Countdown at East Lake. On May 20, first graders at East Lake Elementary School began their 26-day countdown to the end of the year, a number that is significant because it is the same amount of letters in the alphabet.
Mrs. Marshall's second grade class read the book, Dragon's Love Tacos, By: Adam Rubin. The students identified the Key Idea and details from the story in colorful tacos. In addition, they wrote about what happens when you feed a dragon spicy tacos....YIKES!
