What is stop motion animation?

Continuing to expand their knowledge of STEAM processes and careers, our campers became short film animators using stop motion technique. In this process objects are physically manipulated in small increments between individually photographed frames so that they will appear to exhibit independent motion or change when the series of frames is played back.

What did campers do with toilet paper rolls?

Along with creating Stop Motion videos, campers investigated sound making amplifiers out of toilet paper rolls and plastic cups before visiting the Cuyahoga Valley National Park Oak Hill Trail where they studied different habitats and used sound to identify animal type and distance.
