Students from designated public schools and in other specific circumstances qualify for these scholarships. The EdChoice Expansion Program is an income-based program.

The Ohio Department of Education releases the list of eligible public schools every year. The list of EdChoice-eligible schools for the 2021-22 school year is available here. Your child is eligible to apply for an EdChoice Scholarship if one of the bullet points below is true:

Student Eligibility For the 2021–22 school year, students are eligible if they are from families with income no more than 250 percent of the federal poverty level ($66,250 for a family of four in 2021–22).

The EdChoice Scholarship Program provides scholarships to students who attend or would attend public schools designated by the Ohio Department of Education as low-performing. Families use scholarships at the participating private school of your choice. Scholarships are renewable through high school graduation.
The application window for the EdChoice Scholarship Program begins April 1 for scholarships awarded for the 2020-21 school year. Remember, only the private school can submit a scholarship application, so be sure your student is accepted at a private school.

Your child is homeschooled, has not attended an Ohio school, and is assigned to attend a school on the list.
Your child is enrolled in the 8th grade in a private school, does not have a state scholarship, but would be assigned to attend a school building that is on the list. A student must be eligible at both the time in which they apply and are awarded a scholarship.
