CHILD ASSESSMENT: CONNECTING THE DOTS

Connecting the Dots is a training coaching program to support the implementation of child assessments throughout our child care centers, family child care home, and in the classroom. This program provides the necessary tools to conduct child assessments, complete required certification, and support children’s growth and development.

Elevating and supporting early childhood educators is vital to fulfilling the Early Learning Coalition’s mission. We continually reward early childhood educators who pursue higher education and remain committed to the field of early childhood education.

EARLY LEARNING COALITION ACCREDITATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (ELCAAP)

The Early Learning Coalition Accreditation Assistance Program (ELCAAP) is a path to Gold Seal designation through accreditation. Benefits of Gold Seal designation include a positive marketing tool for prospective parents; tax exemptions on certain educational materials; and property taxes; and higher reimbursement for School Readiness providers.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (PDAP)

The Early Learning Coalition wants to eliminate the financial barriers of obtaining higher education. We support providers by offering programs and incentives that relieve the financial constraint of advancing their professional and educational goals.

ENGAGE

Our Engage program seeks to address the qualified child care workforce shortage by providing financial relief to assist child care providers with the cost of hiring new staff.

Reading is one of the most important skills for long-term success for an early learner. The Nemours Reading BrightStart! (NBS!) Complete Program for Literacy Success puts teachers on the cutting edge of early literacy best practices with an exciting new approach to building reading readiness skills for struggling learners.

School Year Program

Length: 540 instructional hours, average 3-6 hours per day. Before and after care is available with most VPK providers

Summer Program

Length: 300 instructional hours, average 6-8 hours per day. Before and after care is available with most VPK providers

FULL DAY Program

How long does it take to receive the VPK certificate once I submit my application?

Normal processing can take up to 10 business days to receive your VPK certificate.

What would be considered an appropriate cause to dis-enroll a child?

The following are examples of appropriate reasons for dis-enrolling your child: medical reasons, job transfer, and changing home address.

If a parent chooses to not enroll their child in VPK will it present a problem when the child enters kindergarten?

No, participation is completely voluntary. Many parents choose to provide school readiness activities at home.

Can children attend more than one VPK session?

A child may only attend one state paid VPK session either during the school year or summer session.
