Is my child’s information on the parent portal secure?

Your child’s safety and privacy are our greatest priorities. The Parent Portal is hosted through PowerSchool, our secure student information system. Your child’s records can only be accessed by authorized school officials and those with whom you share your password. Who do I contact for PowerSchool access?

How do I disable my Parent Portal account?

Send an email from the account that is registered with to aziobro@essextech.org indicating you would like your Parent Portal account disabled. Be sure to include school, names of students, and homeroom of each student.

What is the PowerSchool Parent Portal?

The Parent Portal “brings together” teachers, students, parents, and school administrators in an easily used and accessible web-based data system. By utilizing PowerSchool, everyone stays connected.

At Essex High School, Essex Middle School, Westford School grades 5-8, and Albert D. Lawton Intermediate School, PowerSchool offers parents real-time access to grades, attendance, homework assignments, and other class information. You can even email teachers or ask for automatic updates on your student’s progress and view the school bulletin.

Student Contact Information Management

In the K-8 schools, PowerSchool is still used to house student data, and PowerSchool is linked to the messaging systems for email, phone calls, and SMS text messaging, as well as the EWSD app, which allows us to contact you in mass messages and personal phone calls.

What is PowerSchool system?

PowerSchool is our student information system. It allows us to manage information such as grades, attendance, schedules, demographics, courses, etc. Since Powerschool is web-based, some of this information can easily but safely shared with you and your child.

How do grades get entered into PowerSchool?

Grades get entered into Powerschool after assignments are graded by teachers and in some cases the grades are reviewed with students. Some teachers will grade tests only after all students have had a chance to take the test. If a student was absent this may cause a delay in the grading of the tests.

Does PowerSchool show the most recent grade?

While our instructional staff will make every effort to update grades as frequently as possible, parents/guardians should note that all grades may not be immediately entered PowerSchool. Therefore, grades shown in PowerSchool may not reflect the most recent grade. Nevertheless, we recommend that parents inquire about grades unsatisfactory grades.

Can parents access PowerSchool?

When students and parents access the PowerSchool server, they see the same information with one exception; parents will have the ability to enter their email address and to request automatic progress reports via email in the future. Email is not currently enabled on the server.

Does PowerSchool send emails?

The PowerSchool auto-generated email is created and sent by the PowerSchool server, not by an individual. The server will not reply to your email sent to that address. If you have questions about your child’s progress, please direct those questions directly to the faculty member.
