Hi, I'm trying to export a portal to excel. I'm displaying only the first row of that FM portal (which is the one that I want to export). However, when I export the data, what I see in Excel is that first row and after that one I see lots of blank rows (the same number of rows that the Filemaker portal has).

a) Go to Related Records [portalRelationship] landing on a PortalRelationship layout (of course) and then do your export from there.

What happened to me before is that if I have a relationship, and then someone changes a related data, everything clears out... We are using a dynamic database (changes frequently), so relationships are not working for me. So method B would not work.

At the split second that you're on the screen staring at records in the portal, you click a button and it, right then, goes to THOSE related records.

Can you do portals in child table?

You don't do a portal in the child table. From the parent you do a 'go to related' to the child table. That will give you the found set of children. You do the export based on that found set and you can include related parent fields.
