What is the history of the Academy independent school district?

The genesis of the Academy Independent School district can be traced back to a private school called the Little River Academy that began operations in 1872 with an enrollment of 60 to 70 students. The two-story frame building was located approximately two miles southwest of Heidenheimer near current day Burgess Road.

New Parent & Family Events

You are invited to join an Admissions team member for Details & Donuts. This is a time for new parents to ask questions and receive information regarding your family’s transition to The First Academy. In order to meet the scheduling needs of new families, we offer both on-campus and virtual sessions.

New Parent Training

Newly enrolled families will receive information about learning how to navigate Family Portal (formerly known as FACTS ParentsWeb), our online Student Information System. You will learn how to access Student/Family contact information, Student Medical information, Attendance, Daily Grades, Progress Reports.

COVID-19 Protocol

We are closely monitoring the COVID situation throughout our state and nation. Our school continues to have extensive cleaning and sanitization measures in place after the onset of the pandemic last year. We are following the parental choice option for masking. Students are distanced in most classrooms.
