What is the Friends’ Central Parent Support Group?

P.S.O.C. is a group of parents/guardians that work collaboratively with the Home & School Association to support families of color by fostering open communication between parents and the School. Our focus is to ensure that families of color feel empowered and included as equal members of the Friends’ Central community.

What's new at Friends’ Central?

Friends’ Central’s first ever scientific research article naming an unrecognized moth species was released in The Journal of the Lepidopterists' Society on June 8, 2021. The 2021 Best In Show winner is Ha-Eun Choi, Grade 12, Friends’ Central School, whose teacher is Mr. David Talone.

What is Friends’ Central doing for families of color?

Our focus is to ensure that families of color feel empowered and included as equal members of the Friends’ Central community. Some of P.S.O.C.’s work entails organizing social events, and helping with workshops particularly those focusing on issues surrounding race, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Information for New Families

New Families - Please check each tab in the drop-down list on this back-to-school info page for items pertaining to your child (ren). Also, for new Lower and Middle School families, new parent handbooks will be arriving in your mailboxes in early August!

Health Forms

A School Physical Examination Form is required for every student every year. It is due on the month of your child's birthday or on the anniversary of your child's last physical examination. For new students, a Physical Examination Form is required before your child may attend the first day of school.

Summer Reading Lists

Dining Plans

Required Books

There are no required books to be purchased for Lower School students.

US Fall Preseason Athletics

Upper School Fall Preseason Athletics will begin on Monday, August 19 for all fall sports. Please click here for a detailed letter from Michelle Crowley, Director of Athletics and Wellness, with more preseason information, including summer workouts/training info, coaches' letters, and preseason practice times for each sport.

STEP 1: Begin Online Application

When you begin the online application, you will be asked to create an Admissions Portal account that is password protected. You will be able to monitor the progress of your child’s application through the Admissions Portal.

STEP 3: Supporting Documents

Pre-K-5th Grade: We require one (1) recommendation from your child’s current teacher. If your child has not yet attended school, this step does not apply. Please forward the online recommendation link to you child's current teacher. Once the teacher completes the questionnaire and presses "send," it will automatically upload to your child's file.

Step 4: Tuition Assistance (Optional)

If you are planning to apply for tuition assistance, please go to School and Student Services ( SSS ) to complete your application and upload your 2020 tax returns. We strongly urge you to submit your application and supporting materials as soon as possible. The SSS website opened on September 1, 2021.
