The clear plastic shields are mounted on students’ desks and are intended to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. The devices can be easily moved for regular cleaning. PCPS has ordered approximately 50,000 desk shields and began installing them about two weeks ago. The process should be complete within another month. Using federal funding, we are implementing this extra safety measure to help protect our K-5 elementary students, who often work in close proximity to each other and are not currently eligible for COVID-19 vaccines.
This is PCPS’ normal practice throughout the year. Spectators can wear a mask or face covering that is intended to help protect against the spread of COVID-19. However, please note that Halloween or costume masks are not permitted and will not be allowed as a substitute.
