Fulton Virtual School (FVS) is a supplemental, flexibly-paced, competency-based, asynchronous online option available to students throughout the district. Typically, an FVS student takes one or two courses through FVS while taking face to face classes at their home school. In certain circumstances (e.g. medical, emotional reasons), a student can temporarily take all their courses online. This is usually just a semester or sometimes a year. These special circumstances require school approval and usually go through an IEP or 504 team.
FVS provides students and families access to curriculum they might not have at their home school.
When it launches in Fall 2021, the Fulton Academy of Virtual Excellence (or FAVE) will allow students in grades 3-11 to attend classes in a more flexible format outside of the traditional 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., face-to-face school day.
The main difference between FAVE and the online course offerings already provided is that students would enroll as full-time members of the online school's unique student body instead of continuing at their current school.
In December 2020, Fulton County Schools announced it is proposing a full-time, online school to add to the district’s portfolio of diverse educational opportunities.
