You must complete an online registration to register your student in the district. How to fill out the Online Registration form, including tips. Start an online registration or access a saved one. Students are assigned to schools based on home address. Find out what school your child will attend.
Choose your language. Choose Start new Registration. Complete the form, making sure to enter your (the parent's) contact information, then click Begin Registration. Complete all sections of the online registration, making sure to click the red Submit button when you are done. You will automatically receive an email confirming your submission.
After the registration is processed, you will receive a second email confirming that the registration has been processed. This usually takes between 3 and 10 business days. After the registration is processed, you will receive an email invitation to create a Parent Portal account.

A: It's both! Grossmont Union High School District (GUHSD) comprises a set of high schools serving several East County communities, including El Cajon, La Mesa, Spring Valley, Lemon Grove, Santee, and Alpine. Our attendance area also includes a portion of East San Diego. Our first high school was Grossmont High School.

A: Most schools usually offer both a Freshman Showcase and a Freshman Orientation. Freshman Showcases are usually sometime in January or February, and Freshman Orientation is usually shortly before the new school year starts.
After that, you may participate in School Choice during the School Choice window. This year that window opens December 1 , 2021 at 8:00 AM and closes February 28, 4:00 PM.
A: You will need to contact the charter school directly. Charter schools (e.g., Steele Canyon, Helix) operate independently, so we have no visibility into their registration.
A: No. You still have to register your student and make a school choice request. However, students with siblings in the same household who will be attending at the same time will have priority during School Choice.
The School Choice window for the 2021/2022 school year is closed as of March 5, 2021, 4:00 PM. Check back in December for information on the School Choice Window for the 2022/2023 school year.
Sometimes a school will not have space to accommodate all requests. When that happens, students are selected for that school based on a random lottery of all students whose families submitted requests for that school during the School Choice window.
Sibling transfer and Boundary Transition transfer eligible families: You must register your student and submit a school choice request prior to the close of the School Choice window.
Parent/guardians must accept approval of secondary choice option through their Infinite Campus Portal during this time. If you do not, your student will remain enrolled in the school of residence.
