On Monday, October 18, 2021, the Hays CISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously (7 to 0 vote) to add two student holidays to this school year to provide additional planning and preparation time for teachers. The recommendation to the Board to make the change comes from a unanimous (26 to 0 vote) of the District Leadership Team, comprised of teachers, parents, community members, and business leaders. The two new student holidays are: Monday, November 8, 2021, and Friday, February 18, 2022 (creating a 4-day student and family holiday for the Presidents Day break).

Hays Consolidated Independent School District (Hays CISD) Superintendent Dr. Eric Wright is pleased to announce the selection of Dr. Fernando Medina as the district’s new chief human resources officer. On Monday, the Hays CISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved hiring Dr. Medina. He will replace Marivel Sedillo, who was promoted in May to the district’s deputy superintendent and chief academic officer roles.
