How do I connect to the parent portal?

Once you have your username and password, you can click on this link to connect to the system. If you had a Parent Portal username and password last year, it will be the same this year. This username and password will be the same as long as you are a custodial parent in this school system and will be good from school to school.

How do I connect to the chalkable system?

The school will assign your Chalkable username and password. Once you have your username and password, you can click on this link to connect to the system. If you had a Parent Portal username and password last year, it will be the same this year.

How do I access the PowerSchool Parent/student portal?

The PowerSchool Parent/Student Portal requires a unique username and password to access individual student information. There will be one parent/guardian username and password assigned for EACH student in the family.

Does HCS offer after-school care or tutoring?

Beginning second semester, HCS will begin offering after-school care with AlphaBEST at many of our elementary school campuses. Much like last year, HCS will also offer tutoring before and after school for elementary students who meet the requirements of the Alabama Literacy Act.

Can parents see cumulative grades?

A parent/guardian or student can also view the cumulative grade for each course in which the student is currently enrolled. This view provides a summary detailing exactly where a student stands in each course area for the current semester. These are live grades as they exist in the teacher’s grade book.
