What if my child is selected for Head Start/Early Head Start?

If your child is selected or offered a seat in a Head Start/Early Head Start & VPK/Enrichment class that is not your boundary school, you must apply for and receive a reassignment in order for your child to attend Kindergarten at the same school. To learn about the reassignment process, please visit the School Choice website.

What is Headstart School?

Headstart School is a dynamic, innovative learning community cultivating lifelong learners who serve as active global citizens. Headstart School MUN Team in Geneva, Switzerland at the UN for FERMUN 2020.

What are the hours for Head Start programs?

We offer full-day, campus-based programs at no cost to eligible families (8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., with some sites offering extended hours from 6:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.). Early Head Start is for children ages 0 to 3 years old.

Head Start

The Head Start/Early Intervention Department administers the District’s Head Start (HS) Program, a federally funded program that offers free comprehensive services to economically disadvantaged children and families.

Early Head Start

Early Head Start (EHS) is a federally funded program that offers free comprehensive services to economically disadvantaged families with infants, toddlers, and pregnant woman.

Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK)

The Head Start/Early Intervention Department administers the District’s Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Program, a State funded program that offers free instruction to Florida four-year-olds.
