High School South is known foe Spirit, Tradition, Excellence, and Pride. Teachers were asked to nominate students who contribute to our school community, making it an Indianific place to learn. Teachers were present to talk about positive attributes of the students that they nominated for the "Spirit of the Indian" award.

The Junior Class of Toms River South sponsored an outstanding Prom Fashion Show during the month of February. The models were from both the Junior and Senior Class. They wore the latest in Prom Fashion wear and wowed an audience of appreciative parents and students. Pictured are the models and staff of the successful show.
The French National Honor Society of High School South held a sock drive for needy people in Toms River. The socks were donated to the Ocean County Hospital Sock Drive. Their drive was a good one for it brought in 173 pairs of socks for people who needed socks for the upcoming winter season. It's these actions by students of Toms River South that proves that the "Home of the Indian" has a lot of heart and compassion for others!
The following activities took place at Toms River High School South during the month of October which was designated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month: 1) The Indian Givers sponsored a "Pretty in Pink Day" where the color pink was worn by South students and staff; 2) The Key Club and F.B.L.A. volunteered to help with the Point Pleasant Beach Breast Cancer Awareness Walk; and 3) The Hitting Indian football team sponsored a pink shirt sale that shared the cost of the shirt in the following method: 50 percent of the cost of the shirt went to Breast Cancer Research and 50 percent of the cost of the shirt went the Hitting Indian Scholarship Fund. The pictures sent are pictures of students that helped with the walk in Point Beach.
The Toms River South Diamond Club will present a free screening of South Baseball - The Spirit of Winning, Wednesday, June 6 in the Cafetorium. Light snacks at 6:30 pm; Screening at 7 pm. The film tells the story of New Jersey’s winningest baseball coach, Toms River South's own Coach Ken Frank, and the sport that put Toms River on the map. Produced by Toms River South alumna Sandra Levine, the one-hour film covers highlights of the past 40 years of Hitting Indians Baseball, and also incorporates the amazing story of South graduate Todd Frazier - from Little League World Series Champion to Major Leaguer. Be sure to come to the Toms River South Cafetorium June 6th for this very special event!
Happy Easter rings out at Toms River High School South for Alexa Gonzalez who was the winner of Spirit Egg Hunt #17 at the "Home of the Indian!" The event was held before school on Wednesday, April 17th in the Courtyard.. Alexa won tickets to AMC movie theaters, appetizers at Fridays, and a fleece blanket complete with an Indian that decorated the blanket with the mascot of our school. Many other students were pleased with the prizes they won. The event was sponsored by the Spirit Club who also decorated the hallways with an Easter theme..Who played the Easter Bunny? It was the same person who gave out hugs on Valentine's Day!
The purpose of the obstacle course was to challenge both boys and girls in Physical Education classes to take the ultimate challenge presented by the course and eventually finish the event by climbing the wall at the end of the obstacle course.. A great number of South's students accepted the challenge and as you can see by the second picture, many were able to complete the course.They were an example of the SPIRIT, TRADITION, EXCELLENCE, and PRIDE inherited by all students at the "Home of the Indian."
