Entering the H.E. Huntington school gates may look different, but we will not let our masks cover the excitement as we anticipate opportunities to learn, build friendships, and grow as a school community. HMS is ready to help each and every student grow in academic achievement and social emotional growth.
The accomplished Huntington High School senior will be attending Stanford University in California. The Huntington UFSD’s after school dual language program for youngsters in second through fifth grades has been a hit.

Following a long COVID-19 related absence, Huntington High School’s junior and senior symphonic bands returned to the stage this week for a well-attended and well-received concert.
After skating past most of its opponents in its previous 20 games, the Huntington girls’ basketball team was pushed to its limits by Sachem North before the Blue Devils rallied for a 41-38 victory and a berth in the Suffolk Class AA Final Four against Northport next week.
A pair of Huntington High School artists captured awards at the Suffolk County Art Leaders Association’s annual All-County & Scholarship show at the Old Town Hall on Main Street in Babylon.
A large contingent of Huntington High School boys and girls track and field stars will be competing in the state indoor championships in March. The Blue Devils turned in many impressive performances at the Section XI state qualifying meet at Suffolk-West in Brentwood earlier this week.
The Huntington varsity boys’ basketball team honored its seniors during a pre-game ceremony on the last day of the regular season. The Blue Devils recognized nine special players.
Emily Plachta reached a milestone in Monday’s playoff game. The Huntington senior scored the 1,000th point of her Blue Devil career to lead her team over Centereach, 45-29. Third seeded Huntington will play No. 11 Sachem North on Thursday at 5 p.m. in the Section XI Class AA quarterfinals.
Fourth graders love all things science, especially in Huntington UFSD. The youngsters at Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School and Woodhull Intermediate School will be participating in the North Shore Land Alliance’s Long Island water education program.
Local children’s author John Buckland, also known as WV Batman, visited Central City Elementary Thursday, February 17 to share his message of kindness and anti-bullying with students and families. Buckland read his book “Broken Toy Hero,” a story about toys that overcome adversity and learn how to be good friends.
Huntington East Middle's Claire Salisbury took first place in the Regional Science Fair in the Chemistry Division. She will compete in the State Science Fair on March 7 in Charleston, WV.
Students from Cabell County Career Technology Center partnered with Marshall University to build "Little Free Libraries" at Yeager and Tri-State airport.
Huntington High School students, Giovanna Brunetti and Brianna Henderson were going through their closets to find clothing to donate to others when they became inspired to launch their own boutique.
During the recent holiday season, Cabell County Career Technology Center students collected and donated $3,512.60 to help meet "Empty Stockings" needs identified by local non-profit organizations and published in the Herald-Dispatch.

Cabell celebrates student artist with “A Night on 5th” Superintendent’s Art Walk Cabell County Schools hosted the Superintendent’s Art Walk Event from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at the Central Office Tonight, “A Night on 5th” featured student artwork from the following schools: Milton Middle School Milton Elementary School Salt Rock Elementary School Ona Elementary School Culloden Elementary School Cabell Virtual Learning Academy Refreshments were served by Cabell Midland High School’s ProStart Culinary Arts program, and entertainment was provided by the Cabell Midland High School Strings Quartet Family & Community Engagement Facilitator, Dr.
HMS Science Olympiad teams competed in our very own San Marino Invitational Competition held at the high school this past Saturday. This was our team’s third tournament of the year and it was an exciting in-person event against several teams in our local area. Our teams earned medals in 11 out of the 23 events.
