The brand-new Impaq Online School is just one more way to support parents to ensure that learning can continue uninterrupted in the comfort of their home. Grade 7 – 11 learners can attend engaging and interactive classes presented in English or Afrikaans.
Another valuable resource you, as a home education parent, can rely on is Impaq’s national network of tutors. Learn how they can support you and your role on our tutor page.
Impaq employs education specialists who can assist with subject queries. There are subject forums on Facebook where learners, parents and tutors can ask for assistance or share valuable information. Impaq also provides additional support and resources through our online platforms.
However, due to changes to the curriculum in 2008, Impaq cannot accept applications for Grade 11 and 12 if the previous grade (Grade 10 and 11, respectively) was completed before 2008. Affected learners may, however, enrol for Grade 10.

Home education is a legally recognised alternative to formal education in South Africa. It was legalised in 1996 and Section 51 of the South African Schools Act states that parents have the option to register their child with the Head of Department of a Provincial Education Department should they wish to educate their child at home.
No two families home educate the same way, so seeking out several points of view will help you understand what your options are and what resonates with your child’s learning style. Read Impaq’s blog for valuable insights from our subject matter experts.
Once you are registered and have a basic understanding of home education and how the law applies to it, you’ll want to gain access to other home education parents. There are lots of home education support groups to keep you motivated and involved.
When your family is ready to start home education, just go to our online shop to register. You will receive regular updates on the registration process.
There are subject forums on Facebook where learners, parents and tutors can ask for assistance or share valuable information. Impaq also provides additional support and resources through our online platforms. Once you’ve registered as a learner through Impaq, you’ll receive full access to the resources and platforms.
Grade 10 – 12: All examinations (June, November and Preliminary Examination – excluding the Grade 12 Final Examination) must be written at an approved invigilator (commissioner of oath, assessor, qualified teacher or tutor using Impaq’s products and services) and may be written at the place of tuition.
Grade 10 – 11: Tests can be marked by Impaq or the approved invigilator. All examinations must be sent to Impaq (electronically or manually) for marking on the prescribed due dates. There are no additional costs involved for the marking of assignments, tests or examinations.
Examination boards do not register independent candidates. FET learners, therefore, must register with a curriculum provider, who is registered with an examination board. Impaq is registered with SACAI (an examination board registered with Umalusi). Click here to learn more about the FET Phase.
