The College, too, lives every day by its motto, In Meliore Contende, Strive for Better Things, providing the environment and opportunities for every boy to become the best version of himself. Joeys is not a selective school. It is about giving everyone a chance, fostering all abilities, and believing that everyone counts.
At the Tokyo Olympic Games Spencer Turrin (2009) and Jack Hargreaves (2011) created College history by becoming the first Joeys Old Boys to win rowing gold medals. Since its inception, Joeys has been a place where both city and country come together under one roof, to learn, live and thrive.
Our boys learn that true leadership for the common good, does not come from the front. Our boys learn to be virtuous, helpful and caring members of society. As a Joe Boy, he will always be a family man first. Your son will only be a new boy for one day, and from that day on, he'll be a Joe Boy for life.
Godfrey Kelly from Wiseman’s Ferry was the first boy in the St Joseph’s College register, transferring from the Marist Brothers secondary boarding school in Harrington Street to Hunters Hill.
St Joseph’s College is a Catholic school in the Marist tradition. Our vision is to educate boys for life, learning and leadership for the common good, and we reaffirm the values and traditions of a supportive, non-selective learning and Catholic faith environment.
