The Keystone Exams are standards-based, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Pennsylvania. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level on the tests.
Advanced Placement classes are college-level courses students can take in high school. The percentage of students taking AP classes may reflect whether the school culture is focused on college.
The Kane Day School is a learning environment dedicated to educating, caring about and nurturing the children in Kane and surrounding areas; its goal is to prepare students for kindergarten. Now the staff and school board wants to help alumni when they are ready to start their post-secondary education
The Sashy and Gladys Kane Permanent Memorial Scholarship Fund provides two scholarships to Kane Area High School seniors. Sashy Kane was the eldest grandchild of General Thomas L. Kane, the town's founder. He was a veteran of both World Wars, retiring with the rank of the Colonel. Gladys was a registered nurse at the Kane Hospital. Together they established and operated the Kane Manor until moving to Florida in 1954.
