The Kern High School District's next new school is scheduled to open in August 2022 but the school does not yet have a formal name. Construction on the school, currently known as School #19, is scheduled to start in the fall of 2020 in southeast Bakersfield at the corner of Panama Ln. and Cottonwood Rd.
For students whose health would be put at risk by in-person instruction (as determined by the parent/guardian), the Kern Learn Extension program is the independent study option for the 2021-2022 school year.
