What is Knapp School?

Knapp School is one of eight elementary schools located in Michigan City, Indiana. Knapp accommodates approximately 387 students in grades K-6. We offer a variety of support systems and services to support student needs including Special Education, ENL, Gifted Students, Response to Intervention, and Speech Therapy.

How does the NHA Parent Portal work?

The NHA Parent Portal allows parents and guardians to access their child's information online through their computer or smart phone. Parents can view student grades, fill out school forms, contact school staff, check attendance record, view the school calendar, make payments for school lunch, and view your notifications or account settings. What happens to children who apply after open enrollment closes?

Children who apply after Open Enrollment closes are processed in the order their applications are received and are placed on the appropriate list - accepted or waiting list.

What to expect when you are accepted to a school?

If accepted, you will receive an acceptance package with important registration forms. A proof of residency must also be submitted to complete registration. Parents/Guardians must submit to the school all of the following items by the date specified in the letter, otherwise you child may be remove from the Accepted list:

Is each school in the NHA separate?

Yes. Each school’s enrollment is separate, so a new application must be submitted to each NHA school in which you are interested.

Do we accept children who applied during open enrollment?

If more seats are available than applicants, we accept all eligible children who applied during Open Enrollment.

Do open enrollment applications get considered?
