The new date for Knox County students to tentatively return to school is Monday, April 20, 2020. On the conference call was Interim Commissioner of Education Kevin Brown who shared that Kentucky will be submitting a waiver to the U.S. Department of Education to waive state accountability requirements for the school year.

With the announcement yesterday of the recommended closure of all K-12 schools to in-person instruction throughout Kentucky for the remainder of the school year, the KHSAA Board of Control today approved the Commissioner’s recommendation and announcement by unanimous vote that the 2020 state basketball tournaments will not be resumed, while also approving the cancellation of all regular-season practices and contests as well as all postseason tournament championship events for all spring sports and sport-activities for the 2019-20 school year. This means the termination of the Archery, Bass Fishing, Esports, Baseball, Softball, Tennis, and Track & Field seasons. You may give completed assignments to the bus running in your area. Middle and high school assignments will be accepted. All assignments need to include the student’s name, teacher’s name, and school name.
If you can view NTI assignments online and use a notebook or plain paper to write answers on, that will be accepted. Be sure to include the date and assignment information at the top of the paper . We know that many families may not have a printer at home or enough supplies to print all of the assignments that are posted. If you need a printed packet because the work requires having a copy you can call 277-2400, dial 1, and request one be made available.
