Ladies’ College is a private day and boarding school for girls aged 3 to 18 in Sri Lanka. It is a school recognized by the Ministry of Education. It was founded in 1900 by the Church Missionary Society, and our Founder Principal, Ms. Lilian Nixon sailed from England to establish this school in the heart of Colombo.
In 1900 a young Irish woman Lilian Nixon, impassioned by her belief in the need for education of women, had the courage and vision to come to a far –flung colony, Ceylon to found Ladies College at the behest of the Church Missionary Society. From humble beginnings with only two students, the school has grown to be a self supporting day and boarding school for girls aged 3 to 18 which is recognised by the Ministry of Education as a National private fee levying institution following the national curriculum.
