Lakewood Elementary is a 2019 Blue Ribbon School, a prestigious honor awarded to only 362 schools nationwide this year.This is the first time Lakewood Elementary has received a Blue Ribbon Award. The program recognizes schools in two performance categories.

I graduated from Grand Valley State University with a bachelor’s degree in Special Education and Psychology. My career in education began in 1996 when I became an elementary school resource teacher. I taught for 5 years at both the elementary and middle school levels in the Grand Rapids Public Schools.
