What is the mission of Laurel Hill Primary School?

Welcome to Laurel Hill Primary School, home of the Loggerheads! At Laurel Hill, our mission is to develop well-rounded learners in a child-centered, developmentally appropriate environment where each student is capable of fulfilling their potential.

What is a typical day at Laurel Hill?

A typical day at Laurel Hill is a busy one! Students begin their day in their classrooms with our news show and a morning meeting. In addition to our core subjects, each grade level has a curriculum dedicated to social-emotional learning. Students also have the opportunity each day to visit 1 of 5 special areas- music, art, PE, media, and technology. The skills learned in these classes are also woven into their learning in the classroom, and teachers often collaborate with others across content areas to provide engaging, hands-on learning experiences. Our students have daily access to 4 playgrounds and a trail with physical fitness stations, with plenty of time for them to play and explore. In addition, students also receive monthly lessons from our guidance counselor on topics ranging from self-control to self-esteem to bullying prevention. We also recently just opened our Action Based Learning lab, which allows students to learn math and language arts content while engaging in physical activity. Our mission is to develop well-rounded learners, and our staff work tirelessly to create ample opportunities for them to grow and succeed.

What is the primary school's responsibility?

As a primary school, we feel it is our responsibility to support and foster the growth of the whole child. We do that by creating warm, caring environments across our school; by offering rigorous instruction that is appropriate yet challenging; and by teaching valuable life skills such as responsibility, independence, and citizenship.

What is the best of times at Laurel Hill?

We at Laurel Hill live “the best of times” every day for the blessing of totally dedicated teachers and support staff who clearly know why they selected to do what they do in career and in life and give, and give, and give tirelessly to fulfill their greatest ambitions for their children’s growth and well being.

Why is Laurel Hill called the best of times?

We at Laurel Hill live “the best of times” because we are blessed to have families joined with us to support and to build – partners in turning great ideas into great accomplishments, partners ready to share their skills and to help in the work that needs to be done.
