Also in 2019, Los Fresnos CISD was named to the elite group of only five school districts in Texas to earn the postsecondary readiness distinction designation for the sixth straight year by the TEA.
Los Cuates, which opened in 1962 as LFHS, is located next to Leo Aguilar Memorial Stadium and the Los Fresnos CISD Aquatic Center. Additions were made to the school in 1965, 1968, 1974, 1975, 1986 and 1992. The school began serving middle school students in 1993. LCMS houses about 830 students in grades 6 to 8.
In 2019, Los Fresnos was named an “A” rated district by the Texas Education Agency for the second straight year, or since the inception of the award.
