I have always hoped for an opportunity to join the Mabin community, and can see endless possibilities in terms of its potential as a centre of excellence for inquiry-based learning and holistic education. Mabin has much to contribute in a world that requires schools that teach children “how to think, not what to think". Nancy Steinhauer
Mabin knows that healthy eating habits are essential in building a foundation for learning. All children bring a snack each day, which is to be eaten during morning recess. Candy, pop, and gum are not permitted. Children can either bring a packed, peanut and tree nut-free lunch from home, or participate in our healthy hot lunch program up to five days a week.
Within our school community, there are several students who have a potentially life-threatening allergy (anaphylaxis) to foods, predominantly to peanuts and tree nuts (e.g. almond, cashew, hazelnut, pistachio), sesame seeds, and mustard seed.
Children can either bring a packed, peanut and tree nut-free lunch from home, or participate in our healthy hot lunch program up to five days a week. All children have Art class at least once a week. The process is highly valued and, when possible, Art Room activities are integrated with classroom themes. Children work in extended blocks of time with a variety of materials that ultimately lead them towards achieving visual literacy.
