What are goals of the Parent Mentor Program?
- To provide parents with emotional support, as well as unbiased information regarding communication options and considerations for their child.
- To provide parents with an understanding of the unique needs of children who are deaf, hard of hearing, and deafblind.
- To link parents to resources available locally, regionally, statewide, and nationally.
What is a family mentor?
The public is invited to gather the family for game night at 7 p.m., Oct. 28, at Mentor Public Library’s Main Branch, 8215 Mentor Ave. Families will be sketching and catching monsters when they play the library’s version of MonsDRAWsity, according to a news release. When to parent, coach or mentor your kids?
- Be aware of children’s different emotions and how they exhibit them externally
- Identify that emotional expression is an opportunity to build a deeper relationship with your children
- Display empathy and validate children’s emotions, but help them to understand why they respond in the way they do
How mentees can become mentors?

Parent Involvement
Parents can play many roles in sport: current or former athlete, coach, fan, motivator, role model or critic. A few studies have shown that family members may influence an athlete’s involvement and achievement in sport more than coaches. Parents also are the first and most critical agents at socializing sports.
USA Hockey Parent Code of Conduct
Do not force your children to participate in sports, but support their desires to play their chosen sports. Children are involved in organized sports for their enjoyment. Make it fun.
PARENTS AND ATHLETES
Parents and athletes need to manage their SportsEngine accounts to ensure they get the most out of their Mentor Youth Hockey experience during each sporting season. With their accounts properly configured, athletes and their families will receive communications according to their preferences and be able to complete registrations more efficiently.
STAY CONNECTED TO YOUR CARDINALS
Keep connected to your team (s). Get schedules and team updates for every athlete in the house, plus a way to message other members on your team and a way to give coaches a heads up about practice. Enjoy unlimited access to scores & stats, photo/video sharing, and more.
ESSENTIAL PARENT HOW-TO'S
In many instances, more than one parent or guardian needs to be in the loop with a child's sports life. Using the mobile app, you can add additional guardians to an account. Guardians can 1) View games and events 2) RSVP to games and events 3) Send and receive messages to coaches and team members 4) participate in team chat

Mentor Public Library Hold Lockers at Mentor High School
Picking up books, movies, and anything else from your local library just got more convenient! Mentor Public Library has installed hold lockers outside of Mentor High School near the entrance to the gymnasium between the Fine Arts Center and Paradigm building.

Cutest Staff Baby Photo Contest
During the week of February 22-25th, Student Council is holding a Cutest Staff Baby Photo Contest to raise money for outdoor learning spaces at Ridge. Ballot boxes with staff baby pictures will be available for voting at lunch. Students can vote with any coins you find lying around at home.
