Home to our world-class aquatic facilities that are available for professional and amateur training, personal aquatic fitness, competitions and recovery. Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre is the home of performance swimming in Victoria. MSAC proudly hosts Victorian Institute of Sport recognised swimmers and other high-performance programs.

What can MSAC offer?

MSAC can offer a number of school programs and experiences from swimming lessons and water safety education to aquatic games and use of our fun inflatables. Our world-class facilities allows primary school students to learn and develop essential water safety skills in an environment that reflects their age and helps to grow confidence.

Where can I Park at MSAC?

Parking for MSAC is available all day in our Multi-Deck Carpark and Stadiums Carpark, at the southern end of MSAC. We strongly encourage contactless payment upon exit, with Members and Swim School families receiving three hours of complimentary parking every day.

What is MSAC swim school?

The MSAC Swim School understands that sometimes the drive to learn swimming comes once participants can voice their concerns and feel more in control of their body. With this in mind we have introduced our Teen Lessons, catering to Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced Swimmers this stream is there to refine technique and ensure participants feel supported by their teacher and peers.

What is the philosophy of swim school?

Our Swim School philosophy is that teaching aquatic skills helps with making good life choices, beginning with important water safety skills. We follow this with creating options for children and adults to experience wider aquatic environments to continue development.

How long can you swim freestyle?

Swimmers will swim freestyle and backstroke independently for 25 metres while continuing to improve timing and body and head position. What are the skills required for swimming?

Students will also be introduced to breaststroke drills, learning the arm and leg motion. Swimmers will continue to develop their water safety skills, these include treading water, survival backstroke and having an advanced knowledge of water safety skills.

What is stroke curriculum?

The program curriculum is based on the principle that each stroke has many individual skills and components, each of which must be individually taught and evaluated.

What is the importance of individualised feedback in swimming?

Individualised feedback and personal guidance and support is crucial to a swimmer’s development. Our small class sizes ensure each student is given ample attention and feedback from their teacher.

What do you learn in the swimming level?

Swimmers will learn how their body moves in the water through fun and engaging activities. Foundational skills such as blowing bubbles, floating and kicking are also taught in this level. A paramount focus of this level is developing water safety knowledge that is essential around the pool, beach and home environment.

What is MSAC school squad?

MSAC can provide coaches and a tailored squad program to allow your school to best prepare for upcoming interschool competition s. The School Squad program can be tailored to meet all ages and competitive racing experience.

How long is the MSC swimming program?

At MSC we offer a comprehensive and detailed 1 or 2 week in-term swimming program comprising of 45-minute lessons.#N#The program is designed for school aged children between the ages of 5 and 13 years.#N#The outcome of the program is to educate students in water safety and stroke technique. All students are well catered for under the MSC program and we particularly welcome students from multi-cultural and diverse backgrounds, and students with different abilities and needs. One-on-one instruction for students can certainly be arranged if needed.

What sports can MSAC offer?

Choose from a variety of sports including Basketball, Table Tennis, Badminton, Volleyball, Soccer, Inflatable Soccer and Fun and Games.

How many levels are there in the Victorian Water Safety Certificate?

Revised school specific curriculum comprising of seven levels, allowing the achievement of the Victorian Water Safety Certificate

Does MSC offer water safety seminars?

Does MSC offer dryland?

In addition to the schools booking an intensive through MSC, we offer a dryland component, where the Swimming instructors will come to the school prior to the intensive and present a topic Water Safety, and what the students need to know about the program

What is the purpose of the swim class?

The class is designed to teach children to follow direction, swim unaided and promote water confidence.

How long is a swimming class?

Student age: From 3 years up until students commence full time school. Class duration: 30 minutes.

How many parents attend a lesson per child?

Only one parent attends lessons per child to ensure we can maintain capacity limits

What if my child becomes upset during their swimming lesson?

Please be aware that it is common for children to have difficulty adjusting to swimming lessons. Most children will settle within a few weeks; however, we do encourage parents to bring bathers along during this time, in case your child requires additional support.

What is the Watch Around Water Policy?

Children under 5 – must be accompanied in the water and remain within arm’s reach of an adult.

Do I have to be in the water with my child during the lesson?

If your child is under 3 and/or enrolled into one of our Water Babies, then a parent/guardian must be in the water for the duration of the lesson.

Can I take photos of my child in their swimming lesson?

We welcome the capturing of your magic moments on camera or video, however privacy of others must be respected. The use of cameras and video cameras at this venue is conditional upon the following:

Is the pool heated?

Yes, our pools are all heated to varying degrees to ensure that the water temperature is appropriate for the user groups accessing each area .
