Who is the new principal of Northwest High School?

On July 15, 2021 Mr. Scott E. Smith was appointed as principal of Northwest High School by the Montgomery County Public Schools Board of Education. Please click here to read the letter regarding the appointment.

Who is the new superintendent of the Northwest School District?

Kirchhofer has served as superintendent since 2017. In late October, the Northwest School District sent a survey to families with children in the district, asking their preference in traditional inclement weather days (snow days), AMI days (virtual learning), or a combination of both.

How will northwest notify families if it’s a snow day?

Other circumstances, such as the timing of the weather event and the forecast, will always play into the decision. Northwest will notify families via our communication channels (phone, text, email, website, social media) if it is a snow day or an AMI day.

Northwest R-I School District Selects New Superintendent

With a vote of 7-0, the Board of Education has approved Dr. Jennifer Hecktor as the new Superintendent of the Northwest R-I School District effective July 1, 2022. She will replace Dr. Desi Kirchhofer, who is retiring effective June 30, 2022. Dr. Kirchhofer has served as superintendent since 2017. Learn More
