Why is Garden Grove Unified School District launching the ParentSquare Health Screening Form?

Garden Grove Unified School District is launching the ParentSquare Health Screening Form to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 on our campuses and district sites. As schools reopen for in-person instruction, GGUSD will require all employees and parents (on behalf of their students) to complete the ParentSquare Health Screening Form to help ensure that those with COVID-19 symptoms or close contact to someone with COVID-19 do not report to work or school. GGUSD high school and intermediate school students will have the ability to complete the form on their own behalf.

How to activate Parentsquare?

Activate your ParentSquare account from the email or text message sent by ParentSquare. If you do not have an activation email or text you can visit parentsquare.com/signin and enter your email or cell phone in the Sign-up. An activation email will be sent to you.

When is a parent required to explain a pupil's absence?

A principal or teacher may require a satisfactory explanation from a parent or guardian of a pupil whenever the pupil is absent for all or part of the school day. The explanation is not required until the day after the absence (CCR, Title 5, Sec. 306).

Pursuant to EC 46010.1, school authorities may excuse any pupil in grades 7-12 from the school for the purpose of obtaining confidential medical services without the consent of the pupil’s parent or guardian.
