How often does Schalmont send out report cards?

Schalmont distributes report cards throughout the year for the elementary, middle and high school levels as well as progress reports four times per year for grades 6-12 students. In the middle school, report cards are given to students in homeroom, except for the final report card in June or July, which is mailed home.

Why is homework important in Schalmont?

The Schalmont Central School District and school community believe that homework plays a critical role in teaching and learning. It also provides an excellent opportunity for parents to become aware of their child’s daily academic experiences.

How does parent role play in homework?

It is the parent’s role to reinforce the importance of homework and encourage home completion in a timely manner. Parents need to monitor their child’s homework. If parents set rules within their home that define where, when and under what conditions their child needs to complete their work, the task becomes more routine and less cumbersome. It is essential that parents provide guidance for their child, not answers. Parents are encouraged to find out more specifics about individual teachers’ procedures and requirements when a child is absent.

Can students be home-instructed in interscholastic sports?

Students instructed at home are not eligible to participate in interscholastic sports. Commissioner’s Regulations mandate that only students enrolled in the public school are allowed to participate in interscholastic sports. Further, the district does not permit home-instructed students to participate in any extracurricular activities.

What is a schoology parent account?

A: Schoology's parent account provides specific grade information for things like tests, quizzes, writing , and other assignments. Schoology also offers you homework calendars, classroom materials/resources and can show you if your child owes any work. If your child is absent, it becomes the first place to look for what school work may have been missed. Additionally, a ny student work, assessments, or writing submitted by your child through Schoology is viewable through your Schoology parent account. A: Yes. Schalmont's Schoology is a monitored online tool that is accessible only to students enrolled in the class and the class teacher. Besides parents with a specific code, outsiders cannot access Schoology. Additionally, your child's account is password protected and only viewable by you and your child.
