You’re part of our family, too. With more than 20,000 members, the Parents Club is free and open to parents and family members of current, former and future WVU students. With a toll-free helpline, social media, parent electronic news and email updates, you’ll have your finger on the pulse of campus life throughout your student’s time at WVU.

Can my child take online courses at WVU?

These courses can be taken completely online, on WVU's Main Campus, or during the school day as dual credit options in participating high schools. Additionally, HS ACCESS will provide a support network for your child whether they take courses online or in their high school.

What is WVU HS access early college?

The High School ACCESS Early College Program enables your son or daughter to reach their academic goals quicker and cheaper by taking West Virginia University courses at a reduced tuition while they are still in high school. We want diverse and motivated students from all over the country to begin their exciting journeys with WVU HS ACCESS.

How much does it cost to get into WVU?

Pay the academic deposit — $150 for West Virginia residents and $250 for all other students — to secure a place in the Class of 2025. Your student’s been admitted — now it’s time to explore where to live. Did you know we have 12 residence halls on campus?

Know Your Timeline

We know this is a stressful time for families. Getting items checked off your to-do list is crucial, and we want to make sure you have everything completed before August move-in. Review the checklist, print it and put it up somewhere in your house to never miss a deadline. Plus, we have a handy guide to WVU acronyms.

Test Optional

Did you know that WVU is test optional this year? And the best part? We don’t penalize a student who decides to go test optional. Better yet, we’ve updated our scholarship chart for students who apply test optional. Visit these pages to learn more about test optional.

Pay the Academic Deposit

This step unlocks your student’s future as a Mountaineer. Pay the academic deposit — $150 for West Virginia residents and $250 for all other students — to secure a place in the Class of 2025.

Complete the Housing Application

Your student’s been admitted — now it’s time to explore where to live. Did you know we have 12 residence halls on campus? Take a virtual tour of our residence halls, pay the housing deposit and choose your student’s next home away from home.

Complete New Student Orientation

All first-year students must complete virtual NSO, which includes an online, self-paced program, meeting with an adviser to finalize a class schedule and attending an online onboarding program in June.

Academic Advising

To register for classes, your student must meet with an adviser each semester. New students entering in fall 2021 will meet with the advising staff during their New Student Orientation day. More information about NSO will be shared later.
