Where is Patty’s Dance Center?

Located just off North 21 st St. in Newark, Ohio, Patty’s Dance Center offers various dance classes year-round for children ages 3-18. Patty’s Dance Center was established in 1970 and remains a family-run business today. Our founder, Patty Thagard, built one of the finest dance studios in our region.

How long is the Springtime program?

Springtime program – 12-week program, February-April. Summer Splash – One week program in June and July. Drop-in classes and semi-private lessons – Take one class at a time. Holiday Show – a special show to end the year!

Do you have to be potty trained for summer splash?

Dancers must be fully potty trained before registering for classes. Summer Splash features a variety of dance styles (introduction to ballet, acrobatic arts, hip-hop and jazz), as well as other fun activities. Flexible dress code. No uniform required. Any style leotard and tights, with ballet or jazz shoes.

When do PDC dance classes start?

An audition is required for dancers new to PDC. Competition classes may start as early as age 5 or 6. Classes meet once a week to practice for 30 min-1 hour. Competition classes typically meet in the evening, after school, Monday-Friday, or Saturday mornings.

How are competition dancers selected?

Competition dancers are selected based on the following: Classroom behavior , including the ability to remember choreography and apply corrections. Proper dance technique, particularly ballet technique. Skill level, based on age and peer group. Overall performance quality on stage.
